-RThis is sad news. Kelly was one of the most prolific of the pulp era illustrators, and his work has influenced countless science fiction and fantasy artists.
And he was a very nice man in person.

When I fist began my career as an artist, some 15 years ago, he was kind enough to "show me the ropes" of the science fiction art scene. We only met a few times, but he was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with a newbie.

He will be missed.
