not just nice at all!

Increadible!

This is the type of stuff that allows things like Trains to stay on tracks, and bicycle Chains to link and act naturally!

For animators, this is a dream come true!

That one with the bike mentions something about mouse movement? What's that? Is it in the r8 thread?

R8 has the ability to record mouse movements for animation purposes... check out www.3dfortherealworld.com and see the soft ik samples on the left (also on the imashination site now i come ot think about it) they're done by recording the mouse movements to control the characters movement... just think of the posibilities! :)

oh man oh man oh man oh man - OH MAN!

Loved those lens flares. Just hope it doesn't spawn a new generation of lens flare lovers

(remembers lens flares in lightwave and imagine on amiga ;) )

Hmmm... It seems to me everyone is of substantial age here at cg talk, I'm 16 and haven’t talked to anyone else my age. Although I haven’t seen anyone just blurt out their age either, and since you cant see them, well I cant really tell.

What advice do you ol' people have for us youngens? out of curiosity

So for example on that dog wagging its tail following the mouse anim. Is it say- his nose aimed at a null/mouse then you hit record and move the mouse while the anim plays/records? Would that work with a hugely full scene? my comp is a bit jerky in play back when my poly count gets high dose that mean my mouse following would be jerky? just qurious

Simple, Don't view the high polygon mesh. You won't find a simgle character animator in the world working with the full high poly versions while animating, there no reason to do it.

I'll be 21 in 2 weeks, I expect mountains of pressies sent to the offices from you guys.

Anything alcoholic or electronic will be greatfully received ;-)

That brings me to another question.
If I make a model with loads of polys then make a low poly version. Animate the low polly version maybe with a skellyton and its all looking good how do I then re-import my hi poly model in, replacing the low one? I have a tried this quickly once with no success and would like to know some hints for future use?

matty, are you doing this with a character (organic) or some mechanical type figure?

If you're doing an organic figure, one question: why do a High Poly version when you have SubDivs (hypernurbs) to tesselate the mesh for you?

Awesome upgrades! I'm very happy so far but what about object motion blur? :curious:

pals!!!

i was astonished in watching the engine movie in the
http://www.imashination.com/oldervid.html

i think that knowing how to set up that softIK will suite for my mechanical aims, and also for many other robotic issues (i've read many posts recently)
