Hey all,

I'm new at cgtalk, and also new to drawing. I followed the daily sketch threads a couple of days and I thought it was about time to post a sketch :) I hope you like the piece!

Created it in ArtRage, took about 2 hours.

Heck yes, the legolas version of that man looks smashing :D

@ Alice: Nice Orlando, only the detail-contrast between the face and the rest of his body could be a bit less drastic in my opinion. :)

@ Reinier: that one rocks, but his sphere-body doesn't look like it is the same material as his arms and legs, there are to few reflections on the sphere and it could use heavier contrast. Well I couldnt do anything close to that sketch. :D

Ok now my sketch for today. I forced myself to spend more time on my sketch today. Hope it was worth it.

Hehe, nice contributions all! :)

Sir Lumps: pretty good for 10 mins, I like the style :)

Reinier: great job, you did good on the incoming light, real cool!

Novacaine: thanks! your sketch is neat too I must say :)

doomdragon: I checked your older sketches, you are really improving, nice sketch!

Vitriolic: this one really got my attention, the writings and blood on it makes it damn freaky, not to forget the total piece, it's wicked. But I couldn't really relate it with the briefing :/

FridayEve: Again, yes again a nice concept and again it is painted out very very well, congrats.

Great jobs everyone, esp. Vitriolic and FridayEve....as usual. :)

Hi Keem, glad to see you back!

Alice love your pic of Mr. Bloom. I gotta say I agree that he looks better as Legolas. And I too wonder if he's out yet. He keeps hanging around with Kate Bosworth, tho. Also, its an especially good likeness - well done!

The children look like they are otherwise very sweet, and I love the double shadow (angry grownup and cowering suspects).

fridayeve, i noticed you're using painter. what brushes do you use? i've worked a bit with painter and not really found a good set of brushes that i like to work with. i like the pastels but find that they blur things around too easily. oil paints always have a texture to them that i don't like. do you use custom brushes? great work as always!

I love The Muppet stuff... at least while it came from the hand and mind of Jim Henson... I'm afraid that Disney is going to destroy most of the goodness of The Muppets (like they ruin everything else, there's the Midas touch and then there's Disney :banghead: ).

Johnweedee-
I am still using painter 6. I have found I like to work with the "cover brush" It was from painter 5.5 under brushes. I like it because it goes from a fine line to a wide brush just with pressure. I believe that Ryan Church has those brushes for download on his website(they will work with any version). I really try to stay away from the oil impasto stuff. I don't like the noise it creates and it just does not look quite right yet. I use the pallette knife to blend- I am still trying to work out just how much blending i want to do though.

thanks for all of your comments- keep up the good work everyone.
