View Full Version : multi sub object....
here is the problem....
i have a multisub object with 30 slots ....
if i am only using 5 of those 30 is there anyway to get a list of the material editor of what 5 are being used..?
or is there anyway to have max discard the unused 25 slots and just automatically make the sub object with just the used textures...?

This might not be super fast but you can assign a different color to each material. Then, look at your model in a viewport (when your changing the colors) and see which colors change when you adjust the color. Then move those to the top of the list when you find'em. Once you have all 5, click the set number button and reduce to the amount you have.

I'm assuming your NOT talking about just the first 5 mso's, in that case just drop the number of slots back to 5.
If they're spread out, a trick is to build a box, and slap a different material on it. Then attach the box, click 'Condense material and IDs'. Of course if the box material doesn't use a texture on the original object, you'll have to remove it from the material. But 1 is better than 25 :)
Try and keep your mso's low to start with, saves the hassle.
