The DOF is not working really Ithink that you should make is heavier or loose it.... The leaves seem very flat, I think they need more color variation, they look too CG, they need dirt, the ground looks like its compacted, It doesnt looks like loose sandgrains....
The insect´s cool too hairy for me but nice model :)

I love it, but there is something about the wings or carpace sitting above the fur that just does not seem quite right but I can't figure out what. It seems like maybe its missing some shadowing on the hair or maybe lighten the edges up abit so that there is not so much contrast.
I also agree that you need a little more color variation in the leaves.

Hmm, I also think the hair on the body is to long. Is this an existing insect? Got reference we can compaire with?
Anyway, Welcome to the forum!!!
Have fun!

Thanks to all, in order to realize the DOF effect I have used the DefocusDei tool, and I think that the DOF is enough credible.
Joril, I have attacked a file that contain a trichius real photo, for check the hairs length and to compare my model .
Bye bye friends :wavey:

Very well done well modelled and lit and just about everything. I've always been fond of insects and this is a great rending of one. Actually I've never seen that little creature before so it's also educational!

Hey I see a way to fix the carpace problem I coulden't figure out earilier. Add some specular highlights around the black edge borders. Then dirty the rest of it up just a bit with the diffuse settings.

Hmm, seeing the reference, you'd have to agree that the hair on the CG is far to long. And the colours are to saturated.
Also there appear to be very little hair on the upper body in the picture.
And the antennas on the head are different.

You think that colours are to saturated ?
And the hairs as they are?
Nevertheless this is always the same bug !
For more references look in Altavista "Trichius Fasciatus"

Sorry but another vote that the hairs are too long and also that they shouldn't continue under the middle section(going by your reference). The middle section is also appears to be too big and set at the wrong angle, destroying the form of your model. A few tweaks though and you will be there. :)
