Hello,
I'm new to doing art work and just got a genius 8x6 tablet and sketched these 2 drawings. I have no idea where to go from here and was hoping that some here might be able to help me. I know I am standing in the shadow of giants here and the only way I can improve is with critique, so go ahead I don't mind :)

I write games for a living and now have decided to give this side of things a try.

Looks like a funny man, but you need to make more depth in the colors, in modern comics the characters dont have flat colors but a lil bit shadow.

These two little drawings are not enough for good critics though, I see drawings like this all the time so you need to seperate your work from other cartoons.

Thanks $imon, I will apply shadows today, I see what you mean, it will definately add more depth.

When you mean seperate, you mean I should try a different style ?

maybe you should varity the width of the lines: all the same, looks a bit boring..?!

Objects and backgrounds give lots of depth to an image. With your picture having only one person and nothing else, it seems really boring and lifeless.

The only advice I can offere you now is to keep drawing, I started drawing 4 months ago, and started workin with a Wacom 2 months ago. Just kep practicing, studying anatomy and the way everything works.
