Is creating a soft-selection for a cluster possible?

attaboy .. this ion was vexing me until u posted this question and I decided to look more closely at the cluster creation options..

tag some points, choose edit> create cluster with center.. u get a cluster parented to a null..select the cluster .. get property> weightmap and then paint the weight values as u require.. then open explorer.. under polygon mesh u get a cluster center node .. selct it, press enter,then in the property page that opens simply hook the amplitude parameter to the weightmap and viola u get a soft selecton.. play with the amplitude values to get the desired feel..
