Hello fellow Maya users

I was wondering if there is a way to smooth out the reflections on a surface?

you could do it in post..

render with and without reflections, subtract the images, blur the result and add it over the image without the reflections..

cheers

TW,
I've been trying to accomplish this same task for about a week now with no happy results. I found a shader that emulates the process, but it takes friggin' forever to render! I've tried adding bump to break up the reflective surface with less than stellar outcomes. The most successful in-program technique has been pre-blurred reflection maps.
The best looking result has, in fact, come from post blurs.

I've seen on www.nrender.com a tutorial which explain how to simulate radiosity. At the end the author say that this technique can be used to simulate blurred reflection too!!!

You should see it!
