Ok I just recently had Maya crash on me, losing a fair amount of work in the process. I had a couple of programs open in the background at the time, and since then I've closed everything down before starting up Maya, which seems to have fixed the problem.
The error (yellow exclamation triangle) was something along the lines of
"Fatal Error attempting to save in C:\Docume~1\Admini~1\Temp\_something_"
At which point Maya shuts herself down
I only mention this because this problem plagued me on a project a while ago. It seemed likely to happen whenever I tried to zoom in and out of a viewport that was displaying an image plane. I can't remember how I fixed it, but I think my hard drive had like _no_ space for the swap file, so fixing that helped.
I know its not the same problem this time round as I have more than enough disk space/memory to cope.
Has anyone experience this or know the cause?
