View Full Version : 'Transferring' sets between objects
playmesumch00ns 09-04-2002, 11:58 AM I've got a two meshes, both the same topology except one has some vertices averaged for texturing purposes (I'm transferring the UVs off the averaged mesh back to the original).
Now I got nice face sets on my averaged mesh so I can apply different materials to different parts of the mesh to make my textures easier to manage.
Now I don't want to have to re-do these sets on the original mesh as it would take quite a long time and would be tedious. Can anyone think of a way to 'transfer' the sets, command? MEL?

If you have a lookee at the MEL scripts section at the top of the page, on the last page I posted a script called transferSelection.mel, it should do what you want. Just select the contents of one of your sets (with 'select -hi' or whatever), shift select the other mesh, and run the script. Then you can make a new set from the transferred face selection. Rinse and repeat :)
If it's any use, you can send me money, jewels, or your first-born child. Or failing that, a bag of smokey bacon crisps would do :D
