Hello to all, this is my last model of face

http://www.studioideabari.it/gianlucamattia/op9/pjoe1.jpg

Modeled and texturing with Cinema 4d XL 6.3 and Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
I can define this personage one risen of "Living Toon", that is one via of means between photo realism yield and yield cartoon. Great attention I have dedicated to the realization of the texture trying to respect the realta of the behavior of the human skin.

 Commented and criticized please

wew that's great work! I'd like to see him in a fisherman's environment, so no glowing white plane ;) cuz I think that'll give him even more personality!
anyways great job :)

Questo è davvero fantastico! Bravo Gianluca!

Thanks, the volume is what you say. For the expressions make I have used them the morphing to the old way

Excellent work :applause: The toon/reallistic quality makes him surreal.

Toon nothing! That's very realistic looking! I'd keep the color of the eyes. They really give him life and add sparkle to his expressions. Excellent work there

It makes me sick that I can't do this kinda work. hehehehe

My only critique is that the ears seem set too far back on the head. From the 3/4 view his ear should be more visable, but it seems to be hiding behind his head. The bottom lip also seems a bit flat. It could use a bit more roundness at the center so that it comes out a little further than the ends of the mouth.

Wow. This is a really bad work because it makes me feel bad :D

Fantastic modelling and texturing...bravo.
If I had to nitpick it a bit I might say it has some sort of femenine quality to it which makes me think a bit of an old woman more than an old man. Maybe the handkerchief is also guilty of that feeling.

As impressed I´m with the modelling, I´m even more amazed by your texturing skills...may I ask where did you learn to paint such skins?

As I said it looks stunningly good. Man, give it a proper background and send it to 3d artists. People needs to see that.

Looking pretty good, make sure you paint out the highlights in the color map (esp. arround the eyes - pain in the @#$), is there a spec map etc. as well? If so then make sure the areas on the nostrils and around them, as well as his overall face are toned down a tad - I'd imagine he has skin like leather, a little tweeking of the bump map would help get this across as well (so it doesn't look like he has plastic surgery ;)) The eyebrows look a bit low as well.

Rest is great, the eyes give him a real spark.

yah, for a render that is supposed to be realistic, the eyes sure do look fake...
beautiful work, although i could live without the bandana

Me feel the eye is no issue, ja! The eye give it a focus. The eye is cheaky. Me think the eye give LIFE to the face, ja.

derelic: exactly!
miyamoto & floater: That's the freedom of us artists to put the main emphasis on some part of the picture so it's got more expression. If you wanted to make everything look exactly real, then why don't you make a photo?

Excellent, I love the colour of his eyes, it makes you notice him.

The best render I think is the bottom left in the picture with four different renders.. Personal preference.

The only thing I can see to slightly criticise is in the render that's rendered upwards where you can see the part where his nose attaches to his lip.. the nostrils could be a bit more defined there, at the base.

Apart from that. Brilliant.

"hey guys, thanks everybody for the feedback. Actually, the model could be modified to make it better (talking about anatomy and maps, most of all), but the aim was to do a character that wasn't completely realistic. The color of the eyes makes him more "surreal", I always try to gain results that differ from reality: 3D graphic makes you able to do that, and that's exactly what I want to do. The animation is ready:bounce: , please go on my website ("www.studioideabari/gianlucamattia (http://www.studioideabari/gianlucamattia) ). Just don't expect something breath-taking, it's just something done for fun (at least, I hope!).

ah, the texture have been created from 0 in Photoshop 5.0 having like references real photographies

tnx again

Fraid I find the blue either too vibrant or too solid.. not sure.. but a great piece. Just looked at your site and recognised some of the pics from previously.....nice stuff indeed and good to see someone doing great work with Cinema 4D. :)

Great. Love the eyes!

If he is a fisherman, then I would believe that hi scarf on the head would be very sunbleached and dirty. also perhaps his skin would be more tanned.

My father-in-law is a hobby fisherman, and all his caps are dirty from engine oils and all the grime that comes from being on the sea.

5 Stars!

Bel lavoro!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

In effects the bandana too much is cleaned up for being an accessory of a fisherman.

si il tipo fà la tosse, ci starebbe pure un rutto, ma diciamo che ho voluto contenermi........oh sono un tipo educato io!;)

thanks to all

great movie, if i might make a few suggestions.

the inside of the mouth seems too dark, and the edges of the eyes too bright.

the wierd brightness/darkness with extreme cutoff's reminds me of VRML low poly models with photo maps.

either style is good, but i think they should match closer in intensity, also the initial mouth openeing is a little jerky.

nice work!

the stills are nice, but the animation is kinda strange. The movements/streching don't look very realistic but the stills look rather realistic.

Also, the closeup on the eye looks funny, like the skin is very wet in that area.

Also, he seems to be almos completely devoid of hair, no eyelashes, almost no facial hair....distrubing.

I haven't checked out the animation, but my gosh! those still's are amazing! Great job.

When I look into Elderly persons eyes I try to see the youth that once existed. In this character you not only get the youthful nature of the man, you also get the feeling that he is full of sprite. hope that you animate him with some youthful attitude.
Any Bio on the guy? Sorry If I've missed something.

The texture far out surmounts the actual model. Im not saying the model is bad, but that texture is quite frankly the most accute and well done piece of art in the work of texturing that I have ever seen
