View Full Version : ray traced volume light

Hi all,

I'm working on a headlights composition/animation with "ray traced" lights (the headlights really project light).

I would like to apply volume lights, but the Max tool canīt fit the actual projected cone. How could I recreate this effect? I was thinking about include particle systems, dust, etc

Atleast that's not possible in plain max, the plain way... Ofcourse you could try to fake it some way. ;)

But I'd suggest you use a shadow-mapped light, but exclude the glass from the light's exclude/include list.
If you want sharp edges - increase the shadow-map size about 5 times.
