View Full Version : Delete Saved Viewport?

Ok - so I used a backdrop image to help me with my model - to make it 'stick' I did the 'save viewport'. But now I want to delete that viewport from the dropdown list - how do I get rid of it? Can't find the answer in the manuels anywhere.

(just a side note - why the whole 'save viewport' way of working? can't we just put images in the front/top/left and expect them to stay there through viewport maximizing and minimizing?)

**edit** as a side note I'd like to bitch a little bit about Modo's stability - or lack thereof. Things like 'mirror' can crash it all the time (i just crashed...again....usually about once or twice an hour....)

Option 1:

Viewport controls | Delete

or if its an entire layout.

Option 2: If its the entire layout...

Layout Controls | Delete Layout
or
at the top of the screen, Layout | Delete.

Hi Phil, thanks for trying to help. However, I tried that and here's what I get -

Option 1 - it closes the window but doesn't delete the saved layout out of the 3D edit drop down. That's what I want to get rid of, I don't want those saved layouts cluttering up that drop down anymore.

also, when I do option 2 (just for the hell of it) Modo tells me 'command disabled'.

hmm, is there something I need to manually edit out of a config file?

ok, I found a hidden Modo config file (that I'm sure everybody knew about but me) and manually deleted the saved viewports. I have a suggestion - *right click over preset - select 'delete' from popup menu* - much easier than digging around in a config file and deleting lines of text.

c'mon guys...

I think he wishes if you right mouse button click on a viewport, it would bring up the option to delete it.

C:\Documents and Settings\(your name here)\Application Data\Luxology\MODO.CFG

Don't know about the Mac. It's 'hidden' so make sure 'show hidden files' is enabled. Just drop it in a text editor (after you make a backup copy of it) and do a search for your viewport name. Then select all the text between the /hash lines and delete it. Voila - your custom saved viewport is gone from the 3D edit drop down menu.

Hopefully we'll see a service update that addresses this and other little niggly things that people have noticed.

I think it's in the 'com.luxology.modo' file located in:
users>username>library>preferences.
I found the name of one of my saved viewports in there, but i'm not sure what to delete?!?
As far as I can tell there is no modo.cfg file on the MAC. Invisible or not.

Instead of edit or delete MODO.cfg, I create a new viewport to replace the one that I don't want, although I got a weird name.:)
If you just started using modo, then you can delete the MODO.cfg, the next launch of modo will return to default.
