the wireframe image looks nicer than the second, mainly due to the bad water. You should comp it over a photo if you can't do it any other way, those waves and that foam (and that smoke) is just killing your image. Find some good reference. Also make the turrets less shiny.
This model is a cool idea though, I just love historical unusual stuff like this. And nothing wrong with the modeling. :)
