View Full Version : Changing default key interpolation

I'm working on my character animation skills (trying to anyway). I'm using the technique called "Pop-Through" animation or "Pose-to-Pose", as described by Keith Lango in his tutorial (www.keithlango.com). My question is how can I get max to automatically set the key interpolations to "linear" or "step" interpolation. As it is the default is "smooth" interpolation. Anyone know if this is possible?

I'm sure Comet has a script which does exactly that (www.comet-cartoons.com).

Right click on your track in track view and then on assign controller......if you then say, set to linear position or linear rotation and press make default.. you will then get linear as opposed to smooth. Could be improved.. yes .. but at least you won't get the over-runs. :)

The Pop-thru technique requires all the keys to be initially set to "Step" though, not Linear, and I don't think there's any automatic way to do that without Maxscript.
