Hi people,

I´d like to show you something i´m working on this week (i´m on holidays, yuujuu!)

It is based on a statue i bought some time ago from giger´s webpage (i´ll post some photos sooner or later) (Morpheus was the manufacturer, if some cares) and after a long time of stressing job i´ve found some days to work on it. I plan to zbrush it after all the modelling is done. For me it will be the first time with zbrush, but i want to make all those wrinkles and scratches the statue has. Anyway, for some reason i want to make lots of details on the mesh. My notebook is starting to cry, but TurboSmooth is a god bless.
3DSMax 7 all the way.

Thanks!

PD: After it all is done, i´ll post more images from the wip.

Another update and the ref i´m using. Right now i´m not using the ref anymore. It was usefull at the beggining for blocking the elements, but now i prefer to watch directly to the statue :)

Now i´m going to start working on the back and the tubes.

Thanks for your messages!

cpaulson: I think you confused the reference i´m using with a skinned model. Right now it does not have any kind of texture :)

More coming in the next hours

Hi again :D

Another update. Next stage is the basement and the skull inside the head. In the picture it is not very clear, but the top part (it is supposed to be the eye!) is made from a translucid plastic that reveals a cool skull inside. I´m not sure if that is something the real Alien should have, but since i´m working on with the statue as the reference, i´ll model it.

Umm, there is no much more left for the modelling stage. :)

Thanks for your replies!

Nice, i acturlly own a copy of this burst your modeling is based on. It is looking really good and much like it, but remember the part you are doing behind its "glass" is a human skull acturlly. also i think you maybe should make the teeths bigger. anyways a very good start, keep up the good work!

Updated.

Just some fixes and the skull. Bigger mouth too. Next will be the basement and it will finished! (you dumb, just the modelling! and remember to attach the head!) From there i hope to put it into zbrush as soon as i understand that tricky interface ;) I can´t wait to start making wrinkles and scratches here and there. Hope to get it done in a few weeks.

Thanks for your feedback. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

This is lookin great so far. Can´t wait to see the zbrushed version ;)

And never mind about the interface. It takes some time to learn, but once you´re in it, it becomes very fast and handy to use.

Thanks Pariah3D. From what i can see in some video tutorials of zbrush, it looks like it is a very fast tool.
I remember when i saw zbrush the first time. It was on the sijun.com forums and for what i can remember, was not a very appreciated software. It was "too much hybrid between 2d and 3d" and confusing. Now it seems the wonderful tool every modeler should learn, at least for displacement purposes :). Anyway, i plan to re-import it into 3dsmax to make the final renders with mental ray. I really would like to see how far can i go with subsurface, GI/FG and HDRI. Also, the slime could look really good with glu3d. Maybe an animation of the alien with the slime flowing could rock!

Thanks again for your time.
