View Full Version : Doin' the 'edgeloop slide'
jabbermacy 12-27-2004, 08:22 PM Guys,
Does taking an edgeloop (like around an eye), using 'constrain to edge', and scaling the loop give the same result as CSslide (the only script I know for sliding loops)? Seems to me it LOOKS like it works, but I'm not convinced it's truly sliding as one would expect. Any observations???

I'd say yes. This method seems to result in a proportional slide, if that's what you're asking.
I've never used CSlide, but I've used Slide in Wings and edge loop insertion in Blender. The effect is the same.
I seems to be the same, I just checked both methods and couldn't find any differences other than that CSSlide can move the loop beyond the next loop; edge constrain will only let you go as far as the end of the constraining edge.
Oh, and don't use CSSlide when you have edge constraints active. It gives some nasty errors. :)

Thanks, Rens! I've been doing my own experiments and came to the same conclusion. Have you guys seen the new Modo videos? Some pretty tricky things in there: I like the 'loops next/previous', tho you could probably script this function.

jabbermacy,
Next/Previous Loop is a valuable tool indeed. If you're into that sort of thing (having full control over loops I mean), check out Wings as well as Modo. There's more to Wings than meets the eye.
