I got a Wacom Tablet for christmas, and I plugged it in via USB port.

A "found new Hardware" popup opened saying it recognized it, :"This window helps you install software for: CTE-340-UV3.1-4" And a boop sound occured when I plugged it in and out.

I closed this and inserted the Drivers CD that came with the Tablet saying on it "Graphire3 Pen Tablet Driver, works with OS 9 OS X WIN & WIN XP."
(I have WIN XP)

It said: "Save & close all appplications before installing tablet. Plug the Tablet into any active USB port, the status LED wil llight. Select continue to install the tablet software."

I click Continue, and Yes/Next to license agreements etc.
It then says "Setup has finished intalling pen tablet on your Computer"

I am then given the option to register. I have. So I press skip, and a tutorial for how to use the pen/tablet, ie: holding etc. opens.

The LED light on the tablet, since I plugged it in blinks yellow light.
The tablet does not respond to the use of the pen.

I have tried plugging it into multiple USB ports, which have worked for other things: ie MP3 player, printer.
I have aslo tried installing and unistalling it, and rebooting.
I have also gone to the wacom website, and downloaded the latest driver. There is no change.
I cant call tech support now because of the holiday weekand.

it could be that your tablet is conflicting with another device. Such as your mouse.

Did you get this resolved?

If not, Wacom has a decent knowledge bas here:

Wacom (http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/select.cfm)

I did a quick search and this came up, not sure if it helps or not:

Q. Are there known issues resulting from the installation of Windows XP SP2?

A. Currently the installation of service pack 2 for XP disables the tablet when logging into a different user account via Fast User Switching. This is being researched and a solution will be incorporated into a driver release as soon as the problem is determined and resolved. Check the Wacom Support web page periodically for driver release information.
********
And another:
Q. Can I have both a mouse and the tablet connected to my machine at the same time?

A. Yes, If you have a PS/2 mouse or support for a PS/2 mouse on your motherboard, both the tablet and the PS/2 mouse can be connected at the same time. If you have a serial mouse, you may have to manage the devices on your machine so that all devices that require a COMM port can coexist. The serial tablet needs an available serial port with reserved resources. This means that it can not share a COMM port address or interrupt (IRQ) with any other devices on your machine.
NOTE: USB model tablets will not interfere with a serial, PS2 or USB mouse.

I am using the USB version pentablet, a USB mouse, and USB keyboard all at the same time with no conflicts.
