Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find a simple way to bring up the Set fore/back color box in Photoshop CS. It seems, though, that you can't set a keyboard shortcut to it. F6 is kind of nice, but not as plenty... HELP!

Not reeeeally sure what you're trying to do here, but...

To change the Fore/Background colours simply click on either of them at the bottom of the Toolbar. That opens the colour editor.

If you're sampling a colour to be used for either one, then with the Eyedropper tool, clicking on a colour in your document will change the Foreground colour, while hold the ALT key and clicking on a colour will change the Background swatch.

That help?

I've wanted a keyboard shortchut like that *forever* - as far as I've been able to figure (by hitting all the keys) there isn't one. I really wish there was though. If you come up with something, let me know!

Oh well... really?!

My bad. Just remembered you want to change the F&G colours.
Well maybe thoughts of trying to use an Action might lead to a solution. ;)

You mean all you want to do is pop open the colour editor with a quick-key?
Here you go... create a new Action, start recording, then use the "Insert a Menu Item" function (Actions options menu) and under the Window menu choose "Color". Then stop the Action and open the Options menu again. In there choose "Action Options" and choose one of the 'F' keys to bind this action to.

Voila! :bounce:

Thanks alot man, but...
Well, the F6 key opens the Color window by default. But what I'm trying to do is open the window you get when you click with your mouse on the For/Back color at the bottom of the Tools window. As far as I know, you can't set a keyboard shortcut or use actions to open it.

Nope, you're right.
And there's no default shortcut for that either.

I wonder why this is? :bounce:

D - sets the default black and white, and X swaps between the 2 colors in the toolbox.

This is for the 'Color' Palette. I think he is talking about the actual Color Picker, which is brought up by Clicking on a The Foreground Color in the Toolbox. If you record a choice, you 'set foreground color' action, not the actual Color Picker interface.

Oh Well... :)
Seems it's impossible to do it from within photoshop.
But it's probably doable via an external program using macros.

Yeah, no shortcut, and no color wheel like in Painter. But, I rarely use the window once I've laid out the colors on my canvas. I just use the [alt] to pick off the image itself. And then I use [x] to switch back and forth between the foreground and background colors. It's just way faster than having to open up that color picker window.
