View Full Version : Please help with this infuriating photoshop problem
phobos 09-03-2002, 03:18 PM When I try to print on my HP940 I get the following message.
(Photoshop 7.0.1 OSX.1.4)
"Some postscript specific print settings(emulsion, interpolation, calibration, encoding)will be ignored since you are printing to a non postscript printer."
The strange thing is that I don't have anything related to postscript. Please help cause all I get is strange colours when printing.
Thanks in advance
PS: I have this problem only when printing in X.With 9 I don't have any problem.
Please help guys.
Thanks

Win XP? you said? Can you try and reidentify the printer in the Control Panel or maybe there are new drivers you need to D_load from HP. Next you could ask Techs at Adobe.com or go to their FAQ pages and look up printing problems. There might be something useful there as well.
Good luck

He said OSX and OS9, dunno where you got XP from hehe. Anyway while Im not a mac person (my rig is named the antimac in my network and has an anti-mac symbol cut into it), I used them for every class I took for my AS degree...... Ill see if I can help.
When you goto chooser and select your printer are you selecting it through the adobe PS (post script) selection or from a RIP. If you dont need / have any PS settings hardware then you should be pritting through a RIP, and shold choose your printer in there. The only experience I have had was with macs (imac, power pc, g3, g4) which were on a very large network, so the settings may not be the same. Also when you goto print make sure you dont have any postscript options (IE: composite print vs Seps and the like) selected in your printer setup.
Its been a few months since Ive been there, and if I was there in front of one I could fly right through it but my recollection is rather fuzzy right now.

Is this with the same file? It sounds like your colour calibration has been set up strangely in Photoshop OSX, remember Photoshop keeps seperate preference files for both OSX and OS9 so you will need to make sure it is set up twice :(. The other thing is OSX has some problems with certain printers, go to your print centre to try reconfiguring your printer.
