Hello, here's my work in progress. First is the thumbnail I decided to pick, and second is a "poster study" which I'll explain later.

I'm sure others look at it and dont understand. i was just positioning the elements that i had in mind. Basically I have two futurustic astronauts that have just landed upon a new planet, they are lookin at the ruins of an ancient city, ruled by a species now long gone. I was thinking of mixing some futuristic technology, with the view of paris that recall from visiting, and mars. I want it to be warm and somewhat analogous of a color scheme, but not totally.
Also, I'm not sure if you can tell where the main part of the city is... i have one large building sticking out above all of the others, which will naturally draw your eye into it. If you have ever been to Paris, you'll notice how all the buildings are a normal size, then there's just one or two sky scrapers. So the 2 or 3 large buildings tower over the rest of the city. I'm going for that in the cityscape of ruins, but even moreso with the sense of overshadowing the city, but still realistic.

now i gotta live up to that. oooohhhh man. lol

This here is the poster study. It's like an abstract idea of the color and value scheme. You throw drawing out the window as much as possible, and concentrate on just color/value relationships. might be an annoying step, but i think it will help.
