Help !!
I'm looking for a very good and detailed tutorial about advanced texturing of complex objects, if exist.
My pourpose is to find something able to explain how to texture something like a human body, from the face... to the feet !!!!
The really question is :for some kind of faces is not possible to apply a simple spherical (or some other primitives) texture........
so is necessary to create more that one UV coords (I suppose)..... but how do that and create a very good texture ? I mean without hard edges between maps ?
If someone could help me is really welcome.
Good Maya works

Try to see somethink about Border UV and Relax UV in Maya help... Ofcourse there is no gold idea for advenced texturing . Every object need own way to texture ... There are just some ways to do it one of it is Border UV and Relax UV ... U right abaout creating more then one UV . Try tu cut objects UV like fabric . Then make planar mapping for each and then sew edges ...

TnX for your suggestions, overall about relax UV tool, it was very useful.... now I have to study a little better how to apply more than one UVs.....
TnX again

Hi Davide,
Just a short reply just now, as I'm still at work :)
I'm a low poly modeller/texture artist for a games company, but
the principles are still the same for high poly characters I think. To
make a decent map layout without having too many separate
pieces you will have to compromise on some areas. For example,
when mapping a head, I tend to let certain areas stretch (like
under the chin) as I know they won't be seen very often. I
generally use 2 or 3 planar projections for something like a head
(one front, one side/top, one back) then sew them together.
Texture space is at a premium for in-game characters though, so
if you have no limits, go for more projections. If you have to leave
any texture borders (and you will ;) ), try to make sure they're in
an area which won't be seen that often. If I get time , I'll try to
post some screen grabs showing my working process, because
trying to explain in words is pretty difficult. Hope that's been
some help at least. Good luck,
JB
