Ok imagine this scene:

"An old 18th century battleship is sailing towards an old fort.

As soon as the warship is in range, it starts a brutal canon ball volley against the fort.
The fort is hit multiple times, but its defences hold and it attacks back the sailing ship.

Ok so how do you shoot this for maximum effect?
What would be the appropiate layout for the scene?

Why I am doing this?

I am currently shooting some background plates in the Caribeean for an upcoming Advanced User FXWars comp challenge.

The plates will be shot on Mini DV and a digital camera and the camera will be static. But before I go and shoot the plates, I would love to hear your input on how to best film this footage.

OK here is the fort I am going to be shooting.

And the kind of ship that should be performing the attack:

The ship (HMS Victory ):

I reccomend starting by showing the beauty of the fort. A couple establishing shots of trees, even people if you're oging to include them. Then, have the cannon volley break this peaceful silence. SHow the previous shots, breaking under the volley of cannon fire. After that, I reccomend some wide arial shots showing the fort and the ship, closeups of spintering wood and rubble. And once the fight ends, be sure to show the slow return of peace and silence.
