I cannot remember how to model in maya 4.0, for some stupid reason I forgotten how to model. Anyway, any of you know any good plug-ins or scripts OR programs such as Zbrush that can help me with my modeling?

thanks in advance.

Grooveholmes, after spending over 250 hours modeling my newest dragon including bones, tendons, muscle and skin, I'll take that one button modeling script. ;)

I do a lot of modelling out side of maya. Even thoug maya is a fast modeller I prefer the work flow of wings. Its amazingly fast to use once you get used to it and you can set it to use hte camera just like maya. Anyway, hope this helps. Oh, and if you have forgoten how to model in maya, don't you think its time you learned again:)

I found it! It's under the create menu, right above make final fantasy characters and super real humans. I would of uploaded a picture of the options box but it would be too big to post.

Ah yes, there it is. I customized my UI so it's right next to the "Make-Completely-Accurate-and-Anatomically-Correct-Muscle-System" option, which is why i had trouble finding it. I hear that 4.5 is going to have a slider for Increasing or Decreasing render speed. :annoyed: :wip:

Ryguy:applause: :applause: That's funny man.

I've got Maya Unlimited and can't find that tool anywhere.. What, you must have Maya Infinite?

blankslatejoe
09-03-2002, 11:44 PM
MAYA INFINITE? You're still using that old thing? Why not switch to Maya Convienent, They get rid of all those useless nodes and have the new "robotize" button instead. It makes everything all wirey and glitzy. Trust me, it really impresses girls.

Looking for the "Make client changes" button?!?! WHY?

Man, I've found a MUCH better workaround! It's called the "Make the client change his mind" button! I think, in Max, it's called the "The client is a moron, just ignore them" button.

:)

This self modeling button is great but I have spent years trying to create a LScript for LW that would allow both the modeler and layout to do what ever I was thinking automatically. Now that I'm working in Maya does anybody know of a Mel script that will do this?

//This is a mel script that should work. BUT it is not guaranteed
//to work in Maya 4.5 or 4.0 or 3.0 or 2.0 or 1.0
//It is not guaranteed to work when the moon is full.
//It is not guaranteed to work when the moon is not full, as well.

dmcgrath, that should work now I'll just make an aluminum hat (ala the movie 'Signs') tie a couple of wires to it and plug it into a USB port and we should be ready:beer:

I do recommend upgrading to USB 2.0 if you are connecting that thing to your brain. Otherwise you might get slow transfer problems.

lol I found a BETTER WAY of creating a character, simply use zbrush to make its body parts, then import them into maya, THEN combine the parts using polygons/combine.

that worked and I made a cool character, his name is "Aqua Ghost Devil"

Show us a picture, I'm curious to how Maya imports a Z-brush model.

dude...mushroom, you're outta the loop. Maya is on macintosh now, so the best modeler has to be simpletext of course.

Hes right you know. You can model with notepad.

Try this...
Load this into the mel window.
//-------------------------------
//Copy and paste this
int $numberSpheres;
string $sphereName;
float $xpos, $zpos;
for ( $count = 1; $count <= 30; $count ++ )

{
$sphereName = "MnM_" + $count;
$xpos = rand(-13 , 8);
$zpos = rand(-8, 13);
sphere -hr .5 -n $sphereName;
move $xpos 0 $zpos;
}

select -all;
scale -r 1 .5 1;
displaySmoothness -divisionsU 3 -divisionsV 3 -pointsWire 16 -pointsShaded 4;
subdivDisplaySmoothness -smoothness 3;
select -cl ;

//Result is a Mess of M&Ms on you floor.

HA, just found this thread accidentally -

A couple of features I could use

- Busty Woman in Tight/No clothing wielding deadly weapons button
- Neatest Spaceship Ever button
- Obligatory Bipedal Robot Button
- Compile Animations in Jazzy/Electro music demo reel button
