here ya go. Its called GI Joe. Its not a true GI renderer, but it renders pretty nicely, its free, and it doesnt take forever to render. Here is the link to the GI Mel script for MAYA (http://www.3dluvr.com/pixho/toolbox/mel/GI_Joe/GI_Joe_doc.html)

Why not use the demos that come with Vray or Brazil ?

check www.vrayrender.com and www.splutterfish.com

Those are really nice GI renders, and the demos (especially Brazil) will give you some good shit - for free.
