I have this "fire" but im having a lot of trouble to put the colors on the way a want it.

The way I would like the gradient tool to work is, as closer to the boarder it would get more red, and a little bit far it would be yellow... but I dont know how to do that... the only way is like on linear. but dont look anything like the way i want.

well there are a few different ways to do this.

Photoshop.

1. Top Layer, Assuming theyre paths, stroke the path with the airbrush tip and the color that you want (red). This will make a stroke on the middle of your path with the airbrush, and so it will feather on the inside of your paths.

2. Select your path, make a layer mask, this will mask out the brush that is outside of your paths and the unwanted section.

3. Make a layer under your red color, fill it with your orange or yellow fill. Repeat this process for however many levels of color you want.

Illustrator.

1. Make your paths, use the Gradient Mesh tool, add and color your points to your liking. Export out, or save as.

Meef ie Meef! :P

for that particular problem, I would use layer styles. have a look at gradient overlay and inner glow / inner shadow
