View Full Version : Maya for Linux is nice, but I have a simple question.
capin_crunch 09-02-2002, 11:25 PM I have been running Linux since August 15th of last month, it is quite a culture shock coming from the NT [windows environments]. Everything seems to be working just fine with Maya for Linux, but there is this one thing that annoyes me. I start up maya, and it changes my mouse cursor to a "X" from the default "black pointer" I shutdown maya, and my cursor does not return to the pointer, until I reboot the machine. I read all the Linux docuementation that came with Maya, but it did not say anything about this. I am running maya 4.0.1 on redhat 7.2 so if anyone has the same problem or knows why it is doing this, I am all ears.
-btw keep up the good work on the board i enjoy reading all the posts. and articles.

sounds like something to do with xfree86 on your machine as this is the only thing i know of that creates the big black cross cursor... perhaps you need to check out www.xfree86.com and see if there are any answers there....

I've never heard of this problem before.
The only advice I can give is that you do not have to reboot your computer! Just restart your X-server by pressing CTRL + ALT + Backspace. Everything should be fine again after that. This whole rebooting issue is something I also had to get used to not doing under Linux in the beginning ;)
