I was going through some old threads and came across this page by Pate.

Both of these are increadibly impressive, and I just want to know what went into them :D

don't think that too much went into them, It seems he is really good at learning from tutorials and applying what he ahs learned. You'll notice that both examples, use tutorials well known in the C4D community, and the first one ia ll tutorials except for the application of the pelham shader. Good stuff though this guys seems to learn very well, now I am interested to see what he can concieve on his own.

DOn't think I am criticizing him for using tutorials, I am just saying don't be overaly awed by these as oyu all can do it if you do the tutorials too.

I pulled a fast one, BTW...

There's this forum dominated by Max users where they do SciFi stuff... I posted the same link there... :D

Hey, thanks! :wavey:

As Kaiskai said, those are pretty directly from various tutorials. Glad to hear you liked them, though!

I am quite aware of my limitations, I pretty much lack the artistic eye and imagination to create anything truly original. I bow to you masters in this regard...

I am mostly interested in doing space scenes, where I believe originality is not a big issue, as those have been done million times already. ;)

I am currently doing some scenes to an amateur Star Wars parody movie (fan film), I'll put some scenes up at some point, but I don't want to spoil anything for the potential viewers of the final movie so it might take a while...

Thanks again for visiting my humble pages!

The good things I see are, acknowledgements to those you learn from, application of what oyu learn, and sharing with the communtiy, all great qualities I say. Can't wait to see what you are working on, especially if the parody is funny I love startwars parodies probably more than I love the new starwars movies (the originals are sacred though) well not really but I wasn't overly impressed with the new ones, anyways way Off topic.

Yes, I visited that site a while ago but did not find anything Star Wars related. Gotta join the forums though, it seems they would have a lot of interesting stuff in there!

Thanks for the tip!

I've been using meshes from http://www.theforce.net/scifi3d/ for my current project. I did not find a good Jedi ship, though, as the 3DS version had subobjects all over the place, and the LW mesh did not have textures assigned. I guess I need to do some fixing to either of those.
