Hi,
I am contracted to model a mannequin without a head and rig it and later I will model the head and attach it to the body.
The head only needs to turn in two directions. Left and right, so pretty straightforward.
I need to know if this is possible and if someone has a method for this. (attaching a head to the body after rigging.

The idea is to have several different heads for the same body and not having to rig it again and again.

I wanted to use character studio for max7 but now I am open to other suggestions if that is impossible.

Thanks in advance.

yes it is posible to rig a body and skin it then atatch the head later In maya.... Don't know about max. But you wouuld probably want to create the head joints/bones togeather with the rest of the rig. When you add the head you need to make sure that the verts that are on the boundry of the mesh of the head have the exact same weighting values as the verts on the boundry of the neck. or else you may have holes when animating.
