I encourtered this same problem myself.
In my character Riggin and animation book I ordered from Alias|Wavefront, it says "A cube will appear on top of the joint IK chain if you turn the degrees of freedom off for the root of an IK chain. This cube is displayed to tell the user that the IK solver will not work correctly because the degrees of freedom were turned off or joint limits were created on tht joint"
this book is amazing:buttrock:
so I would suggest checking and seeing if any of the degree of freedom for X. Y, and/or Z got turned off somehow.
Hope I helped.
Peace

Thanks Peace,
Good to know but it looks like not the solution.
I turned on all Degrees of Freedom for every joint, but still the boxes remain.
Any other ideas?? :hmm:
Thanks,
Dave

Peace, you were totally right about the Joint limits showing boxes...
I removed all my rotational restraints and the boxes disappear.
You rock! Thanks...
But why can't I use limit information without pesky boxes??
Oh well. I guess Ill let my model flail :surprised:

Just turn off IK Handle visibilty for that panel. You should never directly animate IK handles anyway.
