I think you have to have a certian amount of days as a CGTalk member, or a certain number of posts before it is unlocked (maybe around 20?), then you have to change it in your profile area, right around where you stick in your avatar, I think.
At least you are called a "New Member" I am 31 y.o. and was called a "Padawan" when I got here, now that is humiliating...
