Hello everybody. Itīs my first post here. I came here by curiosity following a link in one of "leigh"īs a.k.a. "texturing godess" tuts.
So, I think the best way to introduce myself is to let my work speak for me.
Hereīs my latest project. These are two stills grabbed from a 5 seconds animation I just did for my demo reel.

Hope you like them :)

Definetly like it.:
add some scraches and dust in her armor,
it might look more realistic.
: is that Brazil rendered?
BTW: Wery NIce..:airguitar

That' just a cool piece. Specially the 2nd pic it just has allot of feel.

Less reflexion, more bumps (real one, no mapping) and it will be really coool !

MAX ? if yes, send your shader to Visual Boo iff you want (cf. 3DS area, the sticky post)

sorry buds, this is Lightwave.

Thus no Brazil, not even Lw radiosity. Taking into acccount my really crappy system specs I canīt afford such render times. I had to go with my own light setup to fake GI and be able to render the whole animation.
It didnīt work too bad,though.

Personally,I like the surfaces as they are. It should have looked less reflective had I been able to blur the reflections, but my experiments with the off-the-shelf LW plugin for blurring reflections looked quite bad, and my experiments blurring just the reflection buffer in post didnīt look much better. (and I canīt afford buying HyperSmooth). Iīll have to experiment with that for further projects.

By the way, I find it interesting how people still make WIP-like suggestions in a forbidden-WIP zone
Anyway, I like such comments. I canīt agree with all of them, but any good hint on how to improve my future work will always be very well-received.
So thanks for those comments.

I wonder... what's so dark about a knight in shining silver armour?

I like this one a lot. Very good work. Dont feel too bad about the reflections etc. Hell, I grow up in the blender community and they could only dream of the results from your work.
I think a lot of LW users would love to see a tutorial from you sometime.

nice lighting and textures. However, did you get him a spec/refl map? seems like his armor is too shiny like the car being waxed.

Looks good with the exception of the helmet. That big crescent on the top just looks plain silly. Especially in the 2nd pic. And the fact that he doesn't have a neck opening sorta throws the image off as well.

Nice work but theres something that makes me think its not finished. Maybe it's because this model has alot of potential as to be a very cool, intricate model, its kinda plain right now. I think some added small details and a bump map would add some. Maybe an interesting weapon, armor plates, or a crest on his chest? Dont get me wrong it's looking good.

I've seen a lot of armor, and none of the original stuff has much in the way of reflective properties. Maybe this is just because the pieces are a couple hundred years old, but i hardly think that medieval era steel quality would be up to that par. Look at some examples, and you will find a pretty rough, greyish surface that only has a dull sheen.
BTW, what's the pattern/artifact right beneath his shield arm in the second pic.

hi Valk, you lord of the boards ;)

To those of you who added compliments lot of thanks.
To the rest of you: foeeee...heh,heh..just kiddin. Seriously, I have quite a personal way of reading criticisms which consists on not paying attention to them..heheh. Mainly because most of the time people arenīt aware of what goes behind a project. What has been hurried or what has been simplified for all kind of different reasons: time constrais, low hardware specs, etc...

This being said, it is the peopleīs prerogative not to consider all this situations and just judge the art work. So is mine to question their judgement depending on the reasons for those supposed or real flaws.

All in all, I agree with the armor being a tad too reflective (blurring reflections would have helped a lot to diminish that problem) and that the model could have much more detail.
I just try to improve my previous works, get better at this and eventually find a job in the industry.
My maximum aspiration is to be able to create something like uh...Graphamaximo? :arteest:

Well yes, we all know of certain possible limitations but this is a critique board. They are going to have suggestions in them which is the point of the site. What else would we write about, nothing but endless praise? Which I'd like to add that I did say it was a good model. Just letting you know what the sites for incase you werent aware. :hmm:
