Title: Medieval Marketplace
Name: Sven Dännart
Country: Germany
Software: LightWave 3D
I did this Image in the last two weeks for a Game called "El-Cid & Quest for Spain" from ThinkRenk. It will be used for the marketplace-menue, where you can buy and sell things. Some objects are from my 2 other marketplace images, I did in the past. But I tried to make as much new as possible. Done with Lightwave, critic & suggestions welcome.

- So much detail! Nice. Its like a "where's Waldo" picture, but in 3d!
- I believe that the buildings in the background could use some more damage, they look too straight.
- I wish the image was bigger so I could see all the little objects better.

Brilliant!!! The lighting is nice, like the faint haze. The poses of the people are good. It looks busy. How long did it take you? Nice, nice work. Would love to see some more angles - maybe some closeups.

great job! I think the hazyness really works to pump up the realism here. I do notice that the blown out cloth roofs do tend to distract a bit. Maybe you can cut down on the highlights of them? Anyway, great job. The detail is great, but the big picture looks realistic as well.

Wow, this is really nice! I love the desaturated, hazy, used feeling to the image. The lighting is great.
The people and animals on the ground stand out a bit from the rest of the image, and look a little more game-ish or cartoony in contrast to the more realistic looking lighting on the buildings and ground, but somehow they seem to fit the image to me. They don't really look out of place.
I don't know, maybe it's just that they're these sparse sprinkles of color in an otherwise desaturated environment, but something makes them pleasant on the eyes. That could just be me I guess, but I think the whole thing has a very pleasant, soothing feel.
The long shadows give it a great feel as well in the grey light. Like one of those thinly overcast evenings.
Really cool, I like this one a lot.

You should be especially proud of the lighting in this one. Very nice stuff !
Did you use any form of Global Illumination, or just standard lighting techniques ?

nice nice nice. don't have critics on this one...wel okay only one small crit: their are 3 things that doesn't fit the image. the woman in blue cloth in the most lower-left corner. the woman in yellow-blue color in the center of the image, and the purple clothe-roof in the right-upper corner of the image. they jumps out of the image. but it is not a big problem.
how many polygons does this scene have?? and how many polygons for 1 man/woman???
yes i saw it befor with that empty square, wish it with more focus and less crowded,
very good job.

Very nice! So many details!
One crit about the stone pavement. I think its too white and clean, it would look much better as a darker and more dirty color. It would also give better contrast to your image.
Otherwise great job.

Wow, sehr schönes Bild. Bis auf die etwas zu weiss wirkenden Steine und die steifen Textilleinen an den Ständen fast perfekt. Schade nur, das man bei der kleinen Auflösung die vielen Details nur halb so gut erkennt.
Voice from the background: "Speak english" Er yeah, awesome work. ^^

Thanks for all the comments. The Scene contains 260 Objects with 1.600.000 Polygons. The polycount for each character is between 5.000-45.000. The Scene was rendered with a distance light and "backdropradiosity". Thanks again.
no more comment, very nice, good detail.i like it so much.

The amount of detail is just incredible - I think it would make a great "art" poster!
