View Full Version : Animation done with m:studio
Suricate 12-20-2004, 10:41 AM Cheers everybody,
I just finished a small animation for the current CGTalk Animation Challenge 'Action Cut' (see the forum here (http://www.cgtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=135)). Modeling was done with LW and a little bit C4D. Animation and Rendering was done in messiah:studio. My thanks go to Julez, Gary, Thomas, Taron, Wegg and all the other helpful people for explaining the renderer.

I like elements of the design - really nice direction with the moon and the stars.
Your animation could be better. I like the sniffing part, but underscore it with a bit of twist and bank as he sniffs first to one side, then the next. And when he turns, he turns at once. Body arms and head. Set those apart, so that first head (best with an arc) then after a delay the body anda short beat after that the arms. The eye will follow much better.
The walk: he needs more shift in his weight and respective twisting in the spine.
He's such a lovely toon character, get that fun intoi the splines!
Nice start.

I was finally able to download it. I agree with dobermunk in that I like the setting...it has a nice design. My biggest comment would be to work on the timing of the mouse's movements. Right now it is quite unnatural. But this is a great start so be sure to keep us updated.

Thanks for the feedback !
I agree there is still much space for improvement in the animation, but unfortunately the deadline of the animation challenge ended already, so I won't be able to include any changes there. But I will definitely do some more animations with the character, so stay tuned !
