View Full Version : Still: tyres
LoneLobo 09-01-2002, 11:02 PM hi folks
I showed someone how to make tyres with a profile in them, then i decided to model a rim in it.
here is the result of 2 hours of modelling, the render unforunately took much more time, I suck at doing meterials with fR

and here (http://www.shark5060.net/forum/lobo/chromerim.jpg) is a render in 1024x768, if anyone is interested in
looking forward to your comments, thank you for wasting your time looking at my pic :)

Hi,
there could be more specular on the tyre. Looks very dark.
The tyre in the front is isn't on the ground. Or the shadow is to brighten. Or your FR Settings are to low.
Is the profile connected to the full tyre, or just a profile object and a tyre object. ?
Cya.

tyres are a tad dark...but that could just be my monitor here at work. Im not very fond of the rim design...personal choice i guess.

I agree with Daniel... The surfacing on the rubber isn't quite right. Maybe a little specularity or something... Most people expect to see a little shine in their tires at least on the sides..
Nice work..

yeah, you are right...
looked at my materials and there is nothing like speculars on the tyres :wip:
Think I just forgot it, thanks u mnetioned it
the profile is connected to the rest, these tyres are 2 objects: the rim with the metallic material and the tyre (WITH the profile) with the black material.
I will think about making a tutorial, these tyres are very easy to do :)

Looks like he used the Suurland method for the tires guys, there is a brief description on this website under the new bug gallery.

you are right :)
I modeled a tire (tyre? ) months ago with this methode.
Then I saw suurlands website and decided to model another one.
And here it is ;)
btw, I've started the tutorial...usually these three pics from suurland are enough to get the methode, but I think it won't be bad for me if I try to write one :)
