I will try to explain this but will probably get you and I both confused, but please bare with me.
I am currently doing a project involving a Transformer robot. I am using HDRI as the reflection and to cast shadows, but. I am wanting the HDRI to work normally on the actual car paint but at the same time for it not to effect the, I guess you can call it, skeleton structure of the car. If I turn on the "Use Scene Environment" in Light Tracer I get the effect I want with the skeleton structure part but lose the good quality in reflection on the car paint. If I turn on "Sky Color" with the HDRI in the map slot in Light Tracer I get the good reflection in the car paint but for some reason my skeleton structure turns to a brown color even though I have a Gloss White material on there. Now I know, I think, why I am getting the brown reflection color on my skeleton structure because the HDRI is a more dominate brown tone. So what I am trying to figure out, with your help if possible, is to use the "Sky Color" with the HDRI map in Light Tracer to work normal with the car paint but not cast the reflection onto the skeleton structure but recieve the properties of Light Tracer. I dont know how else to explain it, very difficult. I have attached two images, first one with "Use Scene Environment" selected in Light Tracer (this is the skeleton structure how I want it to look) and the second with "Sky Color" selected to show the two outcomes (this is how I dont want it but must be turn on to give the car paint the look I am looking for) I may be able to explain more precise if you are to ask more specific questions. Any help would be appreciated.
