I have done a search on this forum and found this link.
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=192717&highlight=tutorial (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=192717&highlight=tutorial)

And I think that it would be great if there was a tutorial forum that had sub-forums that covered all the various forms of CG.
I do see alot of tutorials posted on all the sub-forums here and I just think it would be great if they were all placed in their own dedicated forum,as is the case now most people will have bookmarks or would have to do a search,or post a request for links to tutorials without searching first, but if all the great tutorials that are already here on cgtalk were to be moved to a dedicated forum it would help ease the search for that killer tutorial you need to get your hands on!

Also the forum would be updated with new tutorials from those great people out there who bother to take the time to show us how they do what they do:thumbsup:

Anyway I just think this would be a welcome feature to a site that does already try to teach us all the art of CG,and I would love to hear what anyone thinks, good or bad!

I think the tutorials should stay in the related forums but I think they should be moderated some more. So much links are broken or out dated. Might be an idea to think of some system linked to a database, which for example checks whether links are still online from time to time, and where tutorials could be rated, stuff like that?

I think a dedicated tutorials forum is a good idea, speaking from a beginners point of view with 3Ds Max, I know there is a lot of good tutorials out there, written and video tutorials, so having a place to go direct would save a lot of time, and most of all probably bandwidth on CGNetworks….cheers

I like the idea of a tutorial forum. I do think that this would be a useful service and we'll definitely put it in for development consideration.

Thanks!

Maybe it could be run in conjunction with the new Q+A forum that is going to start up.
You could have your Q+A forum and tutorial forum together, im not saying that the tutorial forum be added straight away to the Q+A forum, but maybe later on it could be added in as im sure it would take a while to gather all the tutorials together and organise them.
Anyway, whatever you folks at CGtalk decide is fine by me.

I do really embrace the idea. Tutorials are for me as newbie very usefull, if they are good. But most of the tutorials out there on the internet are useless. Most of the tutorials you can find are about how to do a particular effect on PS or whatever. I would really like to see some on drawing even if only about basics. Like the portrait tutorial by Arseny Gutov, but more detailed.

It would be counter-productive to collect all the tutorials into a single forum, this would make it even HARDER to find the relevent tuitorial you need. The individual forums contain a MASSIVE amount of tutorials and links to even more. I'm afraid you'r paddling upstream with this one.

I too would like to see a tutorial forum. Whenever I learn something new, I refer to CGTalk for tutorials but they are all over the place (and also there are no lighting/rendering tutorials in the lighting/rendering thread) so having 1 forum to rule them all is a great idea.

Each main section should have its own Tutorial subsection, like we do in the 3DS Max forum right now, there are sticky threads about mental ray and other issues

Would be cool a whole Tutorial subsection were each one of us could open its own thread and post its own tutorial, not just a collection of link but original tutorials made by us

You got my vote ! btw, here's a related thread that I've posted here in Suggestions
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=238614 MODS ! Please save the usefull threads !
was hoping to pull it off myself, but my PC screwed up and I had 2 reinstall the night I posted that thread. Forgot to back up my bookmarks, so now all the links to the threads I was talking about are gone. I found a couple big ones just by clicking around, but I know there was a lot more. Anyways, PLZ read it and if u agree with me and have good examples please post your links :) thx.

I am starting to see alot of tutorials posted in "new" forums, so why can't they all be moved to a new "tutorial forum", and I mean moved and not linked to.
The forum could be moderated by many existing mods, who each specialise in certain areas.

I still think it is a good idea, especially now that we are starting to see a flood of tutorials coming in, and not long ago I saw a "call" for tutorials/tips etc. on the front page, I mean we all come here to learn new things and yet there is no dedicated tutorial forum.....?

Anyway just thought now would be a good time to awaken this thread and see how the voting goes.

Hi, I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I agree that a tutorial forum would be cool!
Also, I think there should be a CGTalk Choice Tutorial section, where the best select tutorials could be (example: modeling by wiro, hair by enayla, etc.)

I'm not to sure what I think of this. On one hand it would be good to clean up all of the tutorials that are here... and lost. But I can imagine everyone just posting random crap tutorials and clogging the forum up.

My idea would be to add a simple star ranking system like the one implimented in the gallery, that could be nice.

I think I'm for this idea now
