"THAT! wasn't in the brochure... it wasn't even planned!"
12-14-2004, 08:13 PM
sorry, can't really tell what it is!
12-14-2004, 08:36 PM
That is intentional, but something about the image literally says what it is. Even though I had something in mind when drawing it, I wanted it to be sort of a mystery what is happening. But if you are really curious, it is clearly told what it is somewhere. :)

Umm i still dont get what your trying to imply. The way I see it, its like some show and something goes wrong.
"but can we keep it?!"
This took me about an hour and a half. I really like some areas and think they came out well. Comments welcome
Photoshop and drawing tablet.

wish I had time for this one...finals week.
this topic was inspired by my guided tour of a graphic design school.
while touring the facility with brochure in hand, our group accidentally walked into a live nude model drawing class. all I could do was look up and say "this was not in the brochure" :)

this is completely lame, please forgive me! I need to start doing this more often and join in even on the tough topics- it's always good to challenge yourself, right?
Here we go so:
Just looked at it again, wince! (it's supposed to be a mini dragon wrestling a shirt off a fella)
15 mins photoshop. Oh well!

12-15-2004, 01:02 PM
got a great idea from this one, too bad it's past my technical skill... i'll try and do this one after i take a few art classes.
12-15-2004, 04:36 PM
of course fridayeve and vitrolic had to post theirs right after me!! Talk about humbling! Will we ever see a tutorial from you two (incredibly talented) guys?
please....! come on everyone, let's pester them for tutorials!
12-15-2004, 09:57 PM
paperclip: never tried to do a tutorial before, but I'd be happy to give it a go some time if you're interested. Would it just be a case of posting some WIP steps with notes attached? Or is there more to it? Hopefully Friday would be keen to do one too (hint hint, nudge nudge :D) - I'd also love to see how he works.

Aghh.. I just love Vitriolic's and FridayEve's works...
I do not get it how they do it...
But practice makes master, so i'm practicing like a maniac so on one day, I could be like they are now :P
Both's ideas are good too.
Btw, FridayEve how did you make the footprints look like theyre actually wet?
Or is it a secret? Hope not.
Hmmm looks like he made a vertical gradient to which he highlighted part of the edges. And of course he threw in some talent. That was a nice one.

FridayEve and Vitrolic, it'd be great if you could post a WIP style thing on here, we could make a special daily sketch WIP day showing how each of us (ahemfridayeveandvitrolicahem) do our stuff.....anything you want to keep secret, no worries but i don't think you have to worry about us absorbing your talent!!
Ah come on fellas....sie sind so talentiert! ...ok, time to stop my praise, I'm starting to sound a little like a stalker or something!

wow- thanks for the comments-
sorry for the slow reply, work his been kicking my butt this week.
Mtfr is right- to create those muddy spots - i put those strokes on the layer above the canvas and tried to get the color to look right- then i just hit the tops with the air brush to make them look reflective.
i saved my process doing sketch 194 today. i will have to put them up on my site this weekend to show how i usually work. (even though i am not entirely happy with that one)
again thanks for the positive comments-
(even though i am not entirely happy with that one)
Friday, you're never entirely happy with the results... that's inherent for beeing an artist ;)

Brilliant, one down, one to go! Where's vitrolic? Goro? Art2? Come on guys...!!
