Hi,

does XSI 4.2 Foundation (or Mental Ray respectively) offer 64bit support under Linux (of course running under a 64bit Kernel)?

Thanks

No XSI 64bit as of yet, but the 32 bit version runs under 64Bit Linux.

Mental Image has a 64 bit port of Mental Ray

Any word when such version of XSI would be available, Will?

Thanks

Is the 64bit version of MR included in 4.2 Foundation? I can't really tell from the MR site, but it seems as it is only available if you buy the standalone command line version.

I'll have to decide whether to install a 64bit or a 32bit version of SuSE once I get my new machine on the weekend. Problem is, those windows video codecs apparently don't run under 64bit, so I need a major reason to go for 64 to make up for that.

Bern: I can not disclose that info

Hull: 64bit Mental Ray is not included in Foundation it is for the standalone Mental Ray licenses i.e Ray3 command line rendering

I thought we still could run 32-bit binaries when our OS is in 64-bit mode?

In general you can, but apparently there are some exceptions, mostly in the area of drivers and system libraries.

I can confirm that (32bit) XSI runs well under 64bit. That's great!
