Hi everybodys,
I follow my work on snails. Sorry to open a new thread for this but the previous was to find a solution to shape the shell so I hope there is no problem to do this.
Well I follow my SLA Explorations and now, I'll try to find a way to enhance my picture and I hope you could give me some suggestions to this. What I like, the ball and the snails but not happy with the environnement ( maybe plants, or bottles, or... ) and lightning. Any Ideas ? Comments and crits are welcome ! Thanks. :)

Amazing look!!
I love the shiny surface on the shell and the slimmy suface of the bodies!
I agree with you, the environment could be a lot better.
Some leaves would be great, with drops of dew and a strong DOF.

Good work!

Wonderfull snails! I really like them!! One minor detail you could add is a little of the slimey stuff they leave behind when they move.

Howdy,

Snails indoors? Yuck, although, your snails look fantastic!

I think a good environment would be anywhere snails hang out most: in the garden, under the bushes, on your patio, in your dog's food dish, etc.

One other suggestion would be to vary the size of the snails so that they're not all the same age.

Adios,
Cactus Dan

really nice work on the shells, and on the materials of the snails.
However, it is a bit strange that the snails are crawling on a shiny black sphere in teh middle of a normal-looking room.. It is either not strange enough and too strange, if you know what I mean. It should either tell a story, or be completely out of whack...
You could try some kind of blurred reflections on the sphere as well, too avoid the " ray traced' look.
( and as mentioned already, dif sizes for the snails, slime... the imperfections of nature..)

also, how about trying a closer view ? right now the scene seems somewhat distant.

 Wow, thanks for the comments !

Cactus, you're right with the size and different looking. For the slimey, I did it but not on this picture ( the previous renders above ), I think I'll use this way.
Moka, I agree with you about the strange of this scene, at first idea, I would like to place this black ball as the black square for the Kubrick's movie ( 2001, l'odyssée de l'espace ) and many, many snails around it... So this render was more easy to test the snails in environnement.

here some close views ( no so close ) with a previous shader test.

I follow my wip with your suggests, thanks !

Some randomly sized goo bubles trailing behind would be good to add as well.. trail should be slightly streaky too... not so perfect.

Looking VERY good!

how about putting one of those on the camera, so you can see it from underneath? :D

Looking great! I have enjoyed watching you work through this project. My only comment would be the wood table is a bit off, no bump or texture to it. I likc the black ball and the snails indoors... it makes you wonder why and if they are tolerated there by somebody?

nice work as always.
