is there a way to convert a max poly 3D file to maya without losing the my polys.

I tried once with deep exploration and it gave me a nice triangle faces object under maya :(((

this time it will be animated and I would need also to convert morph expressions !!!

any goos idea ?!?

Check out the free FBX plugins from www.kaydara.com

they should let you convert your mesh between the two.

or use .obj plugins for max, and use that, they work fine as well.

good luck,

There is a free plugin on teh alias-wavefront site that adds support for the .3ds object type in Maya.
The converstion comes out very very well , but doesnt yet support animation.

yes .3ds => maya is an easy convertion...

but .3ds are not max files !!! they are old dos 3dstudio files...

so a lot of parameters are not compatibles...starting by the fact it will be converted to mesh instead of poly...
