Stuffit Expander from Aladdinsys is the one I use.

also make sure you have the latest version because the older ones will corrupt a file compressed with a newer one.

You'll find that since C4D has one of the largest mac polulations, that there a re many sites tha provide both zip and sit, and some that only provide one or the other. personally even being a pc user I tend to prefer sit overall as I find its compression a little stronger, but then againI have never found a zip file I couldn't open with whatever version of winrar I use. Also stuffit expander can unzip so really you only need the one program.

I use Stuffit Deluxe 6.1.....very good app  .It can also create SEA files or self extracting archives in exe format so the recipient does not even need stuffit to extract the file itself.

Tar is short for "Tape Archive", it 's a widely used archive format in the Unix world. Tar files are not compressed, the files are just collected for easy streaming to a backup tape, for example.
