For those of you who are eagerly awaiting v8 and the new tools but can'r wait any longer have a look at wings3d (http://www.wings3d.com) which is based on the Nendo winged edge modeller. It's free and has all those loverly feature such as edge tools and NGons and will export to OBJ or DXF if you like. I've had a play and it is impressive, if not a bit awkward to start with....even if your not into importing models into Cinema it's worth a play just for a few of it'S excellent features!!! OF course I may be a bit behind and everyone knows this..already?

Funny to see how a free nendo-based system has such features and we have to wait for n-gons

Well, don't forget that Nendo is based on the modeling engine from Mirai, and Mirai may be the best polygon modeler on earth.

Nendo is the program that made me a totaly believer in subd modeling. I was trying to learn NURBS at the time and the I ran into a copy of Nendo, and my life was changed forever. I kissed NURBS a quick goodbye and was a Nendo freak for quite some time. I had an eval copy of Mirai, but my system was not quite up to spec and some of the cool features wouldn't work for me. I also found it's modeling tools really cumbersome to use compared to Nendo. If the folks at Izware could make Mirai 2.0 modeling like Nendo with magnet tools, a better undo and keep the animation system in place for the most part, it would be some stiff competition for the big boys in the 3D world.
