Hi,

I've set-up my Net Render server on my Dual G4 OS X server on a permanent IP address for anyone to use. I have a job running at the moment that I need rendered ASAP so I guess I have an ulterior motive to get people logged in to it.

If enough people join in I see no problem leaving it running. I only have a 10 user license but if it proves popular I will upgrade to an unlimited server. My connection is only 2000/256 ASDL so before you upload HUGE scenes >20mb please let me know first.

If interested please email me and I will then email you the IP address and your user details. I'll also be upgrading to SDSL 2mbit/2mbit shortly so that should speed things up nicely. There should be at least a Dual 2Ghz G5 and Dual G4 running to help out :)

My server has the following plug-ins:

xFrog 4.1
AR 8.5.1 module and various free plug-ins.

You need the Net Render Installer, the update and my serial number which I can supply. I'm uploading the Mac and PC Net Render installers to my server now.

Sorry for my noobish question. But what do render servers do? Do they render your scenes that you made or something? Thanks.

Renderserver distribute scene informaton and textures to their render clients. This way a number of systems can be used to render more then one image at a time.
It's especialy usefull for animations but with a trick it can also be used for stills.
The clients will render one or more image which are then collected again by the server who saves them as a movie or set of single images in the choosen fileformat.
With CINEMA 4D XL Bundle you get a 3 client Net Renderer license, the Studio Bundle comes with a license for an unlimited number of clients.

Cheers
Srek
