Great concepts, really digging the elegant forms, especially the whale craft :]
One crit about the merchant ship - aren`t paddles a tad obsolete in space ?
Maybe you should stick more sails there.

Just a little comment about the planet. I find the colours and the designs on it a bit too strong. Maybe a more subtle effect might give more depth to your image. I'll wait for more wip... :)

It looks very nice. My only suggestion is that the foreground ships forshortening is off. It appers to be swimming upwards instead of away from view. You would see less of the front of the ship and more of the back. The front of the ship would be a lot shorter.

looking good, i like the idea behind the ships and the painting of the planet is also very good. one thing that caught my attention is the space dust in the background. on the left hand side of the painting it clusters together, which draws the attention of the viewer. if you were to leave the dust as streaks when they exit they wont be as obvious. keep it up

I love the style of the image, it reminds me of the old covers of some Piers Anthony sci-fi novels. I think the foreshortening is a tad off, but not too noticibly, and it's also something that would take far too long to correct now. One commentabout the environment is that it seems too cluttered, perhaps if you took the "space" layer with all the swirly colors and lowered the brightness a bit, but raised the contrast slightly it would still make it a strong feature of the background, but not so obtrusive. :)
