Cool! Thanks! Downloading it now.

How come this isn't on the Blender.org news? :/

Also, is it in English? The filename is blendermanuallen. Sounds Spanish (I think.) :p

Just downloaded it. And, amazing work by the doc team!

Thanks for taking your time to write out these documents for us.

Excellent stuff!

My Guess: manuallen -> Manual + Language + ENglish
"manuallen" isn't a spanish word, nor it sounds like one :wise:

Hey!!! Great Manual, specially the ULTRA DETAILED Yafray chapters... that was most needed by the community.

Yep. I found it about a month ago. It's tells how to do everything that is possible in Blender 2.35. I'm glad that everyone likes it. If I ever find any newer user guides I'll post them here.

by the way, it's not spanish. It's Blender+manual+1+english. :)

Just out of curiosity, how did you find the guide?

I just typed "Blender Documentation" into Google. www.Google.com (http://www.Google.com)

The guide *is* available from the website. If you go through the links for the documentation project, and follow the download links, you'll get dumped at a directory with lots of versions (the names may appear truncated, so view the full URLs in your status bar).

I wouldn't recommend the PDF version though, for the following reason.

There are problems with image sizing that could be frustrating for new users (or experienced ones) - likely caused by the process of printing the HTML documentation directly to PDF without going through a 'layout' step.

For example on page 46 of the PDF (printed page number is 38) the text says:
To fully undo the extrusion, look for the Remove Doubles button, highlighted in Figure 4-12.This will eliminate coincident vertices.

However, the picture is cropped on the right hand side, making the 'Mesh tools' section of the buttons panel not show. Therefore, you can't see the Remove Doubles button at all in the PDF documentation.

This isn't the only one, but it's the first one I saw. For stuff like this, I'd just recommend using the online documentation (which means having an active net connection, or using software to download an offline copy of the live HTML) since the screenshots are fully viewable (though you may need to scroll sideways).

Yes, there are layout problems with the PDF version. I guess the documentation writers wrote the HTML first, then tried to somehow convert it directly into PDF, without re-scaling or manipulating the images.

Also, the file is named BlenderManualIen because it is Blender + manual + I + english. The I means "Volume 1 - User", the user guide. The reference documentation ("Volume 2 - Reference") is named BlenderManualIIen.

I just checked and THIS is the manual where you are directed when you click on "2.3 Guide", just noticed a note under the link saying "this is constantly udtaded"

The problem is that it just says 2.3, and since almost every one saw/buyed the printed version that was for 2.32 and since it doesn't state the last update, everybody instantly asumes that it is still the same manual.

From what I can tell, it has been updated on July 08, September 09 and December 07 on this year... but they keep it quite quiet

just go to www.blender.org (http://www.blender.org), click the "documentation" on the left menu, and RTFM, (read the fantastic manual).
http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=documentation&file=index

it's being written in docbook XML, and then converted to whatever needed, html, pdf etc.

work is done in cvs, and it is updated constantly. last update was only couple of days ago.
the html export updating you can see from the very first lines of the doc.
currently: Last modified December 07 2004 S68

about the pdf export, I'm not sure how often it's done.

Don't need to, it is for sale printed and binded for about 35 US$ and bundled with the Blender Texture Disk it is about US$45. However, the printed version is a little bit outdated (it as released for Blender 2.32, so anything new in Blender since then isn't on the book.

By the way, IMO the official texture disk isn't that great. The only really remarkable thing are the pre-made blender materials, and still I find they are too few of them.

(also is has a bonus gigantic group picture of the developer team).

I also saw the 2.3 guide for sale at Books Kinokuniya (http://mke3.net/rt/guide_kinokuniya.jpg) on George St, across from QVB, which may be of interest to you, flawedprefect :)

I already have that guide - I ordered it off the website, cos I believe they deserve my money. I like the additional chapters in the pdf however, cos I finally got Yafray working on my work mac. How much is it selling for here, brkn? Just curious, cos I paid something like AU$94 postage included.

Ooh, can't remember for sure, but I think it was about $85 or so. Gave me a bit of a surprise - didn't expect to see it in shops down here.
