View Full Version : Spline modelling/Surface Modifier Help
Animare 08-31-2002, 06:32 AM I am not sure why this is happening but Im making a spline model witha surface mod, and half the faces are flipped one way and some other faces flipped another...what is causing this???
Thanks

If memory serves me (and it rarely does), the reason the faces are being flipped is because of the order in which the splines have been created. I take if you've tried checking the "flip normal" and "remove interior patches" radio buttons? If it's still pretty random then also try putting a Normal Modifier at the top of the stack and checking Unify
Sorry this is a big vague - it's a been a little while since I've gone near patches...

Ideml here, there's a while since I've use surface, but maybe you could look at your first vertex on your splines ? All first vertices should be on the same side on U and V. Don't sure but hey, maybe

Thanks guys, not sure what was going on but i fixed it by using reverse on some of the splines?
Thanks again

I have that problem too once, after whole day observing the spline cage, I found that it is because there are two splines, redundant, and snap to the vertex. this normally happend when I mirror another half of the model, and delete the profile, but some spline just left out. It is quite hard to find the redundant spline, but try to see if this is the reason. I hope this help out.
