View Full Version : Did you see the new price tags ?
Tartiflette 12-10-2004, 11:16 AM Hello all Messiah Users !
I was surfing on the Messiah Website today, and, just to see, I clicked on the buy button. And what a surprise !!
There's a new price line ! :bounce:
You can now buy Messiah:Studio for as low as 299$ ! You won't get the unlimited rendernode, but you have the Full Messiah:Studio for such a low price now !
You can also buy Messiah:Animate for 239$ !
I wish there is a Mac version ( :banghead: ), as I have no PC, but at this price, it becomes very hard to not have at least a small PC somewhere to play with this toy, as I think it will be a long time before a mac version see the light ! ( if ever... )
By the way, I thought it would be interesting for you !
Regards,
Laurent aka Tartiflette :-))
P.S. : the link, in case you're interested...

Thanks for the heads-up! I think this is a good move!
Direct connect and unlimited: I'm not a complete sucker for having gathered 3 studios ;-)

Hmm, very interesting times indeed.
But I am not really sure whether this price reduction really pays in the long run. OK, I understand that these days every other sentence in 3D industry starts with "But XSI is at $495 ...." and therefore it gets tougher for all companies around, but I doubt that pmG actually had to do this price reduction. My impression is that the render part of messiah:studio is getting more and more attention thanks to the efforts of Taron and Thomas, so therefore I think that pmG should have sticked to its former pricing scheme.
But the good news is that now you can get a full package (if you include a modeler like Silo or Wings) for less than $500, so one can expect many newcomers to join the club. So who is right, those who lower the prices or those who stay firm (3dsmax and modo spring to mind) ?
Maybe Martin Hash is right: In the end only two apps will survive, Maya and Animation:Master! :D

Upon closer inspection - it appears the Workstation version is truly standalone - meaning it won't act as a plugin to other apps. So, if someone wanted to use it with say Lightwave, then a copy of messiah:animate would be needed as the plugin. Total price only $538 - stilll not bad at all.
And an even cheaper solution would be to use Point Oven Pro (http://www.ef9.com/ef9/PO.htm) for $99. Total price - $398. :)

Using messiah As A Plug-In
Video is that BRAND NEW!
Make sense to bring that to attention for the people who buy Worksation (WK) can see the difference
between Pro and WK of M:Studio.

I would go with the point oven option myself over the plugin. For one thing you could bring in baked cloth animation from another package like C4D R9 that has been intergrated with animation in messiah to be rendered with studio.
I think the pricing is fine, as it reflects different versions, like XSI F/E/A.
I wonder how they will handle hair/fur, that is of course if and when they implement one.
Cheers,

In most part I would agree. I bought the software based on it's reputation and paid its former pricing scheme. However, now to upgrade may be on par to a new purchase. That is, I would like to upgrade to m:a 5 or even m:a Studio (Work or Pro). But the pricing scheme favors the new purchasers and * loyal, current owners * (at this time) not seeing an adjustment on the upgrade price. How about a deal that makes it a level playing field and get us off the fence.
Sent off an email to pmG and waiting for any reply. At 50% off CURRENT upgrade prices would make it truly great for current owners.
