ugh, that ships from robotech...heck, your concept art was taken from a robotech model kit.

Well yes, It's a for a macross mod for homeworld2. Sorry if I should have been clearer about the source, it didn’t occur to me. To be clear I'm making a Thuverl Salan, which is a Zjent Destroyer from Macross. I posted the line art to help show what I was trying to match.

It looks good, although I'm not sure green is the best choice? Unless this is the way it's supposed to be according to Macross? Anyway, it may work better with a more neutral base color, and then with green stripes, or details. . . just a thought.

yeah, it's supposed to be green
I found a color pic of the orignal ship, and it's basically my suggestion as to how to make it better....make it look like this!

wow, that sure takes me back. I loved how those ships exploded, with all the thin rays of light that would leak out the sides before the big boom.
Nice model.

take a look at the colors in Confracto's post. The Green is much more subdued, and then the red is used for details and markings. Tone the green down :P

offtopic: by saying: if that looks like a penis, then you have a very strange green one :curious:
Ontopic: It looks pretty nice, those green colors were used in homeworld if I remember correctly

yes, i agree, especially if its looking green and lumpy!
anyhoo, i deviate...the model is nice, and youve done well to capture the correct shape and weighty feel. However, you can add to this feel with the texturing and personally, as i hate reworking things, id love to be able to point a few things out to fix so that the texture looks great. Unfortunately we havent seen the texture sheet....and, its my gut feeling you may need to start the texture from scratch to really nail the look. Be careful with your choice of colour and you'll have a nice piece (pardon the pun, i go back to what Krystman said!).
Anyway, congrats on what youve done and with a bit of fine tunining itll look great! :)
Be sure to post updates if you decide to rework parts of it!

I would agree with ArYeS, I like the general shape of the model and you have done a very good job bringing that concept to life in the model. The pure green surface colour looks quite raw though, it might work I think if it were highly specular like a gleeming paint job. Nice work on this model I hope it works out well for you.

That model looks greats!
Care to share it on a Robotech board? Lots of Robotech:Macross fans there would love to see it!

Very nice indeed, but the texture could still use a lot of work, though. It could use a lot of shininess, like Frank pointed out, and less green, because it kind of ruins the model. The front kind of reminds me of the Halo 2 Phantoms front (for the fellow fans =) ), which is a good thing.
