Need a Good Working Carbon Fibre Shader?

so check this one out:
http://www.ftc-creative.de/software/Shaders/carbone_shader03.jpg

it's a Shader developed for Maya 6.0 and Mental ray.
it uses the Maya Anisotropic Shader. and has been tested by
Maya 4.5
Maya 6.0
Mental Ray for Maya 6.0

to download the shader click here:
carbone_SHDR.zip (http://www.ftc-creative.de/software/Shaders/carbon_SHDR.zip)
for more documentation how to Use this shader click here:

I updated the Documentation for the carbon shader.

because it appears when rendering with an HDRI ligtening with Final Gather, Mental Ray doesn't Render the fibre structure. so just add some Lights whitch represent the main light sources in your scene. You don't need to switch off the HDRI it simply affects to the fibres not to the surfaces. you just have to set those ligts not illuminating by default and just set them for the appropriate objects with fibre structure

you can easily generate Lights form HDRI by using the lightgen_plugin (http://www.ict.usc.edu/~jcohen/lightgen/lightgen.html) for HDRShop.
see also HDRShop Plugin Page (http://www.ict.usc.edu/graphics/HDRShop/main-pages/plugins.html)

Yeah i noticed that but also this can give you a cool effect with hdr image which has a small but strong source of light with rest pretty dark.

jes but then you need no fibre shader....

having no appropriate scenelights makes the shader look just dark:
